How to read a before & after result
- Compare results at 12 months or later. Earlier photos don't show the final density.
- Look for the same lighting, angle and hair length in both photos.
- Match results to your own stage: a Norwood 5 result tells you little about a Norwood 2 plan.
- Ask the clinic whether the result was performed by the doctor who will operate on you.
Results are provided by clinics, who confirm they hold patient consent to publish. TrichoTalk does not edit or verify individual outcomes, and results vary between patients. See something that shouldn't be here? Report it.
The hair transplant journey, step by step
What happens between the consultation and your final result.
- 1Before
Consultation
Scalp and donor assessment, hairline design, graft estimate and a written quote.
- 2Day 0
Surgery day
Usually 5 to 8 hours under local anaesthesia. Most patients go home the same day.
- 3Days 1–10
Healing
Some swelling and small scabs. Gentle washing as your clinic advises.
- 4Weeks 2–8

- 5Months 3–4
New growth
Fine new hairs start to appear, often thin and wavy at first.
- 6Month 6
Visible change
Most people see a clear difference as hair thickens and lengthens.
- 7Months 12–18
Final result
Front close to final at about a year; the crown can take longer.
